Raul Barboza

Raul Barboza, highlighted accordionist of chamamé and litoraleña music from Argentina, recorded over 30 original albums, and toured extensively throughout the world. Since 1987 he settled in France where he first released chamamé, becoming a benchmark for litoraleña music in Europe. He won numerous awards including: the Grand Prix Charles Cros, 4 événement ciefs Télérama, Diapason d'Or and Choc Le Monde de la Musique. In 2000 the Ministry of Culture and Communication of France awarded the distinction of "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres". In 1985 and 2005 the Konex Foundation awarded the Diploma of Merit of the Konex Awards Popular Music as one of the top 5 "Soloists Male Folklore" of the decade in Argentina, and again in 2015, this time in the discipline "Instrumentalist".
